Since I published the "101 ways to speed up your Magento e-commerce website" lots of people commented on
it and send me their thanks and additional tips & tricks to put in the list which was really great. Knowing that the subject appealed to many people I thought it would be nice to take a look at it from a (non technical) perspective: that of the person that talks to potential clients about Magento and their questions about it's performance. Last week Magento.com started to accept guest bloggers to post on their blog. A great opportunity to share knowledge and thought about the subject so I grabbed my blog idea, started writing and I now have the honor to be the first with the post "Magento Performance: Myth vs. Reality". So go check it out! If you like it or have additional thoughts, leave a comment! Thanks go out to all that helped me with ideas and proofreading: Roy Rubin, Yoav Kutner, Mosses Akizan, Rhonda Rondeau, Wim de Nocker and Roman Zenner.

Recently I've seen some (often absolute) statements going around, generally in the line of "open source commerce platforms are a terrible idea". Now of course different solutions always have different pros and cons.
A hierarchy of evidence (or levels of evidence) is a heuristic used to rank the relative strength of results obtained from scientific research. I've created a version of this chart/pyramid applied to CRO which you can see below. It contains the options we have as optimizers and tools and methods we often use to gather data.
