This weekend is the first #MageHackDay: the international Magento Hackathon. I’m currently sitting in Amsterdam at Byte Internet, one of the 22 offline locations for the 26 hour event.
For those who have no idea about a hackathon, let me try to explain…
After the Hackathon intoduction hangout: Everyone Ready? Set? Go!!!!
Looking for team members that don’t seem to exist.
Finally finding a teammate after half an hour
Estimating the amount of work that needs to be done in 26 hours
Finding out some of your teammates never used Git before
The reply you expect from your team members after your brilliant suggestions
How they actually respond
The need to code outside of your comfort zone
After some startup-delays, your first commit!
Showing your team members what your code does.
Tip: alternate your input limbs to relieve strain
What’s happening during the coffee breaks
After 10 cups though, weird things start to happen…
But It makes you feel happy and alive anyway!
“And for team communication we’ll send eachother letters.”
“I mean we use IRC” #oldschool
Vinai Kopp is in the same chatroom as me!!!
Your screen when you’re on a roll!
What you are looking forward to after 26 hours.
When your team delivers magic after just 26 hours
Realizing you just stared at some stupid gifs and wasted precious #MageHackDay time. Back to work!
