What are some things I advice on?

I have a broad interest in all things online but I focus on e-commerce and usability.

I’ll take a look at your online conversion and create a plan on how we can improve on this. I take in account several on- and offsite factors into account, such as functionality, performance. trends, usability and online persuasion techniques.

I can suggest (and, if needed, setup) several sorts of testing on your website, including qualitative or quantitative user testing and A/B/Multivariate testing with several tools like Google or Visual Website Optimizer. I’m also certified for analyzing actual on-site user behavior with tools like Google Analytics.

I have extensive experience working on projects using online platforms like Magento, Joomla, and WordPress, and I have also occasionally worked on other platforms. I know which extensions work, which don’t, which extensions add a lot of value and which add no value at all. I adapt quickly, and many things I do (like usability or testing) are independent from the platform you work on.

I always have handy tools for making recurring tasks and daily routines than much simpler. Whether it’s for your site, your personal computer or employee collaboration, you’d be surprised what the possibilities are and how low cost some can be.

I think along with your business and how we can improve company processes, efficiency, costs and revenue through new online possibilities. I don’t restrict this to online businesses, but also involve marketing, sales, fulfillment etc..

FAQ

Do we need to sign long lasting contracts?

No. The deal is simple: We have an open-ended monthly arrangement to add value to your business. As long as you think this value is good, you keep paying me. Sometimes I might take more time, sometimes less, but the package you have will determine the monthly average. If there are months that you feel I didn’t deliver, you don’t pay me. If there are months you feel I over-delivered, you can pay me more (no obligation :)). If one of us feels it’s not working anymore, we can both go our own way when we want to.

What is your approach?

I will dedicate my time and experience to give you advice on your site and your business. Sometimes this will be in the form of review, sometimes with (online or offline) meetings. Sometimes we’ll talk business in general; sometimes we’ll be talking about specific things on your site.This is completely tailored to your situation so it’s hard to say up-front what form it will take before our introduction. Starting point will always be to have an optimal result for your business.

On what platforms do you work?

The majority of my clients work with open source systems like Magento, Joomla or WordPress, but the platform you work with doesn’t limit my work since I’ll be advising on things that work cross-platform.

How do we communicate?

I live in The Netherlands, so if you’re nearby we can meet in person and have lunch! If not: there are more than enough online tools we can use to have Face to Face meetings and discussions such as Skype, GoToMeeting, Facetime or Google+ Hangouts. These sessions are great because the high interaction level leads to better information exchanges and results than writing extensive reports. For communication in-between meetings we’ll mainly use phone and e-mail.

Are there things you don't do?

Yes, there are limits to my capabilities :). I can analyze, advice and provide input to you and/or your team, but I don’t do the actual implementation like software development or design.
